Here is a playthrough of the the level we made for E3 2011.

I did some animation on the policemen, and I was also in the mocap suit doing some acting for the hippies in the hippie appartment.

Leave of Absence from Animationmentor to work for IO interactive for 6 months

I got a job offer from IO-interactive to work on Hitman 5 - Absolution for the next 6 months. They have done titles like Hitman, Kane & Lynch and Mini Nijas. So my first animation job landed. Weee!!!!
They saw stuff from class 2 - class 4.

It's a huge company with 200+ employees.
I have been here 1 week and it's very cool so far.

Finally my pantomime shot is finished.
It is such a struggle to convey emotion only using body language. But a really rewarding experience all in all.
Here is the result.
Next coming up is monologue.

Here is my planning for my first pantomime shot.
Pantomime is acting without dialogue. This term is gonna be tough but also a lot of fun and new learning.
The class is called 'Intro to acting'. So we are actually going to use our newly achieved skills with body mechanics to breath life, thought and intelligence into our characters. Pretty exciting.

She has done animation on 'The Two Towers', 'Return of the King' (WETA), Shrek (PDI, Dreamworks), Geri's Game (Pixar) and a bunch of other stuff.
Had my first Q&A with her and I can feel that I'm going to learn a lot from her.
My first shot is about a guy seeing a computer left by one of his friends. Facebook is open and Stewie can't resist the urge to write a silly update.

So I finished my second shot in the AnimJam sequence (3 shots = almost 30 seconds of animation).
Can't wait to finish the last shot, render them in higher res, and see them together as a whole.

In this assignment we could do a dance which was placed on the picklist as the hardest.
A little arrogant maybe when you consider that I was on a roadtrip from Seattle to San Francisco in the whole period.
Anyways here it is.

I visited the AM office on the trip. SO if you are thinking 'pictures or it didn't happen'...

his week we planned our coming animation.
We used video reference for the first time.
I chose a 180 turn with a notation of 'nervous/scared'

So we finished our personality walk. I tried splining right after blocking which I found very challenging. Guess its a question of getting to know the graphs. I'm still struggling a lot with them slowly advancing down the trial and error path.

This week we started our personality walk.
I'm doing a double sneak. This week we blocked it out, so next week I will reveal the polished version in a 3/4 view. So no animation to see this week. Also we did sketches for exhausted and posed Stu based on our favorite one.

So we finished off our Vanilla Walk.

We also had to make sketches for 'concerned', pick the favorite one and pose Stu according.

This week we had to draw a number of strength poses and pick our favorite one to convey the idea of physical strength.

Also we had to plan and block a vanilla walk. A vanillla walk is a walk without any character. Just plain and boring walking. That way we would learn the mechanics of the walk before heading on to the character walk which is in two weeks.
The Vanilla Walk is a two week assignment. Next week I will polish the Walk.
So no video upload this week. I will upload the polished and revisioned version of the walk next week.

This week we got our first real character. Taylor.
A bouncing ball with a tail.
We had to animate 'him' for 120 frames exercising the things we've learned about the bouncing ball and overlap. Furthermore give the little thing some nice appeal.

This week we had to make a pendulum animation to get hands on experience with the concept of overlap.
We had a 200 frame window of time.

This week we engaged an obstacle course with a ball anticipating into it and then running through it.

We also had to pose Stu completely devastated choosing the best pose from our drawings.

This week we had to animate two bouncing balls with different weights.

No Stu posing this week.
But next week is another Stu pose (devastated).

This week we had to had to draw STU in different poses expressing excitement.

We were to circle the pose we liked the most and recreate it in 3d with the STU rig.

Furthermore we had to upload a four second animation of a ball physically bouncing like a basketball or a soccer ball.

Finally also had to submit our planning for this animation.

This week we have touched upon the basic principles of animation. Our assignment this week was to go out and sketch people going about in the world.

We had to pick the pose that we thought was the most interesting. Then we had to pose Stu that way pushing the pose even more.

I chose a 'Why you little!....' walking pose.

I also uploaded one of the dunk poses. The assignment was to pick only one pose but since I've made it I'll show you anyway.
